Christ is in our midst!
You are warmly invited (and please stay warm!) to sign up for this Sunday’s potluck meal following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in Madera, celebrated in conjunction with the official visit of His Eminence, Archbishop Melchisedek. His Eminence will be officially greeted at 9:00 a.m., followed by the chanting of the Hours. This is a special opportunity to gather in fellowship and to honor the visit of our hierarch and archpastor. We are also planning a photograph following the Divine Liturgy to commemorate this occasion.
Please consider bringing a dish to share, and sign up using the link provided so that we can coordinate our offerings. Your participation is very much appreciated.
At the same time, I am closely monitoring the development of a potentially significant winter storm expected to track south of our area this weekend. As of this writing, the National Weather Service’s experimental guidance gives our area approximately a one-in-three to one-in-two chance of warning-criteria snowfall, meaning six inches of snow or more within a 24-hour period.
As a reminder, the threshold for cancelling the Sunday Divine Liturgy is the issuance of a National Weather Service warning. For advisory-level events, services are typically held. That said, we have learned through experience that even a dusting to an inch of snow can be treacherous. All parishioners are strongly encouraged to exercise good judgment in all circumstances and to receive God’s blessing to remain home when doing so is the honorable and prudent choice.
I look forward to celebrating together as circumstances allow, and I will communicate promptly should there be any changes.
Love, in Christ,
Fr. Alexander
